There is nothing more frustrating than when you are in the middle of an epic Netflix marathon and the Wi-Fi goes out. You must physically haul yourself out of the groove you made in the couch, pull the power on the modem, wait 30 seconds, then wait another 5 minutes for it to kick back in. Isn’t there a better way? Now there is thanks to – ResetPlug.

Resetplug simply plugs into any power socket and acts as a smart plug Wi-Fi client to test the internet connection.  Simply put, If the Internet fails to work, the ResetPlug will automatically cycle power to the Wi-Fi equipment to reset the Internet connection. The device will continue to cycle power every 5 minutes until your internet is restored. You can even schedule regular resets to make sure your connection stays strong.

In a household of connected devices like smoke alarms, thermostats, and smart lighting all of which require a stable connection, this device is a preventative measure to ensure in the event of signal loss, Wi-Fi might be restored after a likely reboot. It works with most routers and modems and can even work with a power strip for multiple device monitoring.

After testing the plug this past few weeks, while easy enough to set up, we found results to be a mixed bag. It did reset our connection when the internet dropped out but then there were times when the unit seemed to seize up and when we did lose the connection, it neglectfully stayed positively lit blue (a sign all is well). This could be fixed in a firmware upgrade so we will reserve judgement on that.

Resetplug does attempt to resolve frustrations associated with dropping connections quite well and eliminates yet another frustration when it comes to our connected worlds.
